According to an official Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan press release dated 15 August 2013, "pictures of banknotes of 1,5,10, 20, 50, and 100 manat, that reflect portraits of prominent thinkers, statesmen and scientists of Azerbaijan, have been posted in social networks. These pictures presented as a new design of the national currency – manat cause misinformation and confusion among the public. According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this information does not reflect reality and the banknote pictures are unknown people’s product of imagination. The Central Bank is not planning to issue banknotes in this design."
