Malaysia announces printers for fourth series of notes

Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, has settled on the printers of its fourth series of ringgit banknotes which will have improved security features to overcome counterfeiting. Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Donald Lim said the suppliers for the new bank­notes were Crane AB of Sweden, Giesecke & Devrient GmbH of Germany, Oberthur Technologies of France (producing 1-ringgit note), and Orell Fussli of Switzerland. In a press release dated 23 May 2011, the bank indicated the new notes would be issued in early 2012.
