According to a press release dated 9 August 2011, Bangladesh Bank will issue on 11 August a new set of notes denominated in 5, 100, 500, and 1,000 taka, all dated 2011 and featuring a portrait and watermark of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with the National Martyr’s Monument in Savar at center front. The new 2-taka note issued by the state bears the signature of Finance Secretary Dr Mohammad Tareq while the other denominations have the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman.
