According to a press release, on 17 November 2018 the Bank of Papua New Guinea introduced a 100-kina banknote to commemorate the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, an inter-governmental forum for 21 Pacific Rim member economies that promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
